The weather is cooling down and the days become shorter but there are still plenty of things to do in Scotland in October. Autumn colours begin to take over the countryside as greens turn to golds and reds and the heather and bracken darkens. The Rut begins in the Red Deer population (you will hear the stags doing battle for the hinds even if you don’t see it). The countryside is stunning at this time of year, perfect for a woodland walk. As the days shorten and the sky darkens you can expect some stunning starscapes and possibly a glimpse of the Northern Lights.
The Enchanted Forest is a choreographic creation of dramatic light shows set to an original musical score. A night time spectacular set in Faskally Wood near Pitlochry in Perthshire’s Big Tree Country. This sound and light show in a woodland setting is a breathtaking family experience that attracts over half a million visitors each year. It is open from 2nd October to 2nd November 2025 in Pitlochry. Tickets are now on sale and you are advised to book early.

A super first impression.
The communications leading up to the hire day were very good and detailed.
On the day we picked up the van we got a full demo of how the van operated etc I’m aware of other companies who just send you a video. We thought this was very important. The van was immaculate when we picked it up.
The van itself had everything you needed for a trip. Cooking facilities, fridge, charging points, bedding, towels.
The van is easy to drive and can be parked in a standard parking space.
We asked a few questions prior to picking the van and always got a prompt response. I got the impression that Rob would try and do whatever he could to ensure his clients had everything they needed to have the best time on their travels,
This was also quite key for us they love dogs and had vans for hire catering for dogs.
All in we had a superb 5 nights and would highly recommend Big Sky Campers,
Paul, Susan and Frankie.
It was such a fab experience travelling Scotland in Flora because she attracts so much attention! We had many a wave, horn honk and flash of lights of appreciation and it made the experience even more special. Would 100% recommend and will definitely hire from Big Sky Campers again, when we’re next ready to brave the temperamental weather of the Highlands… !
Magnus has all that you need for a really enjoyable trip.
Rob is a delight to deal with, showed me how everything worked, just as well for a novice like me.
Returned Magnus today but already advised Rob of my intention to book soon for next year
I would highly recommend Big Sky Campers, I can't wait to get back into one of their campers and head off once more.....do it, you'll not regret it.
Picking up the camper was a breeze and everything was thoroughly explained so we felt very confident driving off!
The camper was spotless and all the equipment was in perfect condition.
Great communication through the whole booking process and very reasonably priced.
Would 100% recommend Big Sky Campers- we had a fantastic holiday!

Here's hoping for the open road again soon!
