Great Holiday for Kids in Scotland
School Holidays Looming…how about hiring a Campervan and enjoy a great holiday for kids in Scotland?
School Holidays looming. How about…
campervaning with your kids
It takes time to find a great holiday for kids in Scotland and when school holidays come round as fast as they do we are often at a loss for ideas!
I was just googling ‘where is warm in October’ thinking I would book a cheeky break for Rob and I when he pointed out that we would need to be here during the October break. So, how about encouraging families to consider a campervan holiday.
Because although booking a holiday cottage is great, or going to stay with Granny (also great) there is something else out there that you could do…
School Holidays…again!
As soon as you have got over the summer and the children are back to school half-term is upon you.
Because Scotland often has really good weather in October that got me thinking, this is an opportunity to have a great holiday with your kids and teens in Scotland.
This may be a trip you do on your own; your other half might be working. You may have to juggle your timetables to fit the school calendar again.
So getting away with the kids in a campervan is a great option.
None of the hassle of camping
There is none of the hassle of camping. Because you can just park, pop up the roof, swivel the seat and you have your wee house ready.
So you won’t need to bring any extra equipment as the campervan is fully equipped with pots and pans, cutlery and crockery, there is a fridge, a hob and a microwave or grill. Bedding and towels are included. See what’s included
Because the heater keeps you cosy in the evenings you can snuggle down. If it rains you can move on to where it isn’t raining and if the sun shines and all is well in the world you can just stay where you are!
Enjoy the freedom of a campervan, a great way to holiday with kids in Scotland
That is the practical side but in all honesty, the joy of campervaning with the kids is that THEY love it!
There is something quite magical about the scale, like a treehouse on wheels, the bed in the pop top is a secret space like their very own tent.
You can take bikes, bucket and spade, kite, teddy bear and of course you can even take your dog.
The joy of being away with the kids is that it so often evokes childhood memories. And if you are on your own with the children you don’t need to share that experience but can just go ahead and indulge yourself.
When my kids were small and I took them on holiday I loved how much I remembered about birds and bugs, climbing over farm gates and bramble picking.
Eating on their timetable, sleeping on their timetable creates time to really relax together and unwind and create bonds that our regular lives can be too busy to nurture.
Campervans and teens
Because teens may not relish the idea of going away with you, the lure of a campervan is often too much to resist. So it doesn’t matter that Mum or Dad are there, being in a campervan is cool!
Our campervans are full to the brim with usb’s so they never need to lose touch with their digital life (until they realise that there is no mobile reception and their data has run out)!
So what a great opportunity to head off to the hills or on a tour of Scottish sites, castles, Cranog’s and stone circles.
Because you can stay away from campsites, make camp fires, try your hand at catching a trout for dinner it is magical for teens too. Of course, toasting marshmallows may be easier!
There are many outdoor activities you can enjoy too. So head to Thurso and have surfing lessons! Hit the Tay and go kayaking and white water rafting and more.
There are so many activities you and your teens can engage in together.
And don’t forget, Scotland is littered with filming locations and attractions! Harry Potter, James Bond movies and of course, Outlander!
Our own get-away…
So we won’t be heading off during half term, we will be here making sure you have a great holiday with your kids and teens in Scotland in a Big Sky Campervan.
I have managed to book a week away…but I’ll keep that quiet for now…shhhhh
