Music and culture, festivals and sporting events, Scotland has a wide variety of things to do all year round. Music festivals have taken place in Scotland for many years especially those celebrating more traditional music and Ceilidh’s. A Ceilidh is an open invitation to perform and often mixed with dancing and singing, reading and story telling.
Scotland also plays host to a number of major marathons and triathlons, as well as shorter running and cycling opportunities. The terrain sets a challenge for fell runners and cyclists and there is plenty of water for those who enjoy kayaking, sailing and sea rowing. Just about every island hosts a sporting competition from a 10k to a full on Iron Man. There are too many to list but I have picked out few that are set in truly extraordinary surroundings.
