Have a festive time and enjoy Christmas and New Year in Scotland
Christmas and New Year in Scotland officially begin on around the 1st of December. Because in Scotland like to party we really do make the most of this time of year. So we hope you are thinking of coming to Scotland to join in some Festive activities.
Now might be the time to think about where you are going to go and where you will stay.
Because our lovely campervans are fitted with heaters, hot water bottles, blankets and warm bedding, I recommend staying in a campervan!
So how about staying in a campervan while you enjoy Christmas and New Year in Scotland. This gives you freedom and flexibility to experience Scotland’s celebrations.

Christmas and New Year in Scotland is when many of the smaller towns host Christmas Markets. The cafes and bars open late and are bustling with customers enjoying themselves.
So when you hire a campervan at Christmas there are many advantages. Because you can stay with family but have your own space you are not on top of each other. And you can enjoy taking the opportunity to visit family and friends further afield.
New Year in Scotland
New Year in Scotland is called Hogmanay or “the daft days” as my Granny used to say.
Hogmanay is taken far more seriously than Christmas which can often feel like a precursor to the “REAL” event. Christmas is about family and Hogmanay is about family, friendship and community.
Many families host an open house. Neighbours and friends drop in through the course of the evening bringing food and drink. Evening entertainment can be anything from a fiddle tune or song to a story told.
There will always be fireworks
In Edinburgh the amazing firework display that takes place from the Castle can be seen across the City. And in the remote countryside you will spot a firework signalling the beginning for the New Year in Scotland.
So you could be anywhere in Scotland and you will experience a warm celebration on the 31st December.
Winter in Scotland
So it can be chilly and yes it gets dark early but Scotland is beautiful at this time of year and because it isn’t the height of the tourist season the roads aren’t busy and you will be made very welcome.
Hiring a campervan at this time of year may seem like an odd thing to do but believe me, you won’t be alone.
Christmas and New Year in Scotland are popular and our campervans always get booked by the time it comes around. Most of our customers leave the City and enjoy the festivities further afield along with some winter walking, climbing and sometimes even ski-ing.
Cosy up in a campervan for Christmas and New Year in Scotland
